History of UP Oroquieta
Even during the early years of UPLB, there have been many Lucenahins (citizens of Lucena City) who have passed the prestigious UPCAT examinations. But it was only in 1996 when five ladies took the initiative to form an organization that will bond the Lucenahins whether inside or outside the campus. They realized the potential of having an organization when they noticed that almost half of the passengers of the bus from Lucena are all students of UPLB. There were no varsitarian organizations at that time for Lucenahins, so they made posters inviting all Lucenahins for a meeting and more than fifty students attended, all eager to form an organization.

They brainstormed to form the constitution and settled on the name UP OROQUIETA. They chose the name “Oroquieta” (a former name of Lucena), for its unique sound yet distinct spirit. The organization was officially formed on August 25, 1996. It was the start of a momentous and rousing year for UP OROQUIETA. They accomplished a variety of activities that will serve as the springboard for future members to conform to.

Years passed, the population of Lucenahins is continuously increasing, along with the rise in the number of students from Quezon Province as a whole. The organization saw the need to expand, and accommodate students from the different municipalities of Quezon. This led to the continuous improvement and excellence of the organization as it housed diverse students from all over the province.

As of First Semester Academic Year 2020-2021, UP Oroquieta has 40 resident members. It has a total of 46 batches after its foundation.
